It is a surgical procedure designed to remove large stones in the urinary tract, particularly in the ureter. It is carried out with the support of a flexible ureteroscope, that is, a probe with a tiny camera, coupled with the use of a laser that will allow the stone to be destroyed.
This procedure uses general anesthesia and usually lasts for a couple of hours. As it is a less invasive surgery than others with more conventional techniques, it is most likely that you will stay one night in the hospital and be able to return home the next day.
You may experience nausea, painful urination, and even slight bleeding for a few days. Soon, these discomforts will pass, but remember that, if necessary, your ABC doctor will prescribe a painkiller or anti-inflammatory, as required.
