Cardiac catheterization is used to establish a diagnosis and treat some cardiovascular conditions. It is a procedure that consists of inserting a catheter into a vein or artery generally located in the arm, groin, or neck to reach the heart through the vascular conduit.

As it is a quick procedure, you will only spend a few hours recovering while you overcome the anesthetics effects. The catheter is removed immediately after the catheterization has been performed.
Your stay in hospital will depend on the heart disease you suffer from and the procedure performed, but many times patients are usually discharged the same day or may stay a day or two.
At home, you will be able to carry out your usual activities, unless your doctor tells you otherwise.
